Funding to tackle mental health inequalities in black and mixed heritage children

5 min read
We’re pleased to share an exciting funding opportunity for local voluntary, social enterprise and community sector (VCSE) organisations. This initiative is aimed at tackling mental health inequalities for Black and mixed heritage children in primary schools. The South East London Integrated Care Board (ICB) is looking to commission grassroots organisations to collaborate in creating solutions that support the emotional wellbeing of these children.
What’s the opportunity?

This programme is set to launch in early 2025 and will run for an initial 18 months. It focuses on engaging schools and communities to develop anti-racist and trauma-informed initiatives. Black Thrive will partner with successful organisations, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure effective programme delivery and collaboration with other local organisations.

Who can apply?

The ICB is seeking organisations that:

  • Are already active in the south east London boroughs (Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich, Lambeth, Lewisham, and Southwark).
  • Have experience engaging with Black and mixed heritage communities and can advocate for their needs.
  • Have a background in working with schools or youth services where children and young people are involved.

The procurement process will open on the Atamis procurement page during the week of 18th November. Register now to hear more about this opportunity.

Background to the project

This initiative recognises the unique challenges faced by Black communities in accessing mental health services. By engaging local organisations, the ICB aims to co-create solutions that are both anti-racist and trauma-informed. Black Thrive has been collaborating with the ICB for 18 months to develop a framework of initiatives to test within schools, focusing on the emotional wellbeing needs of Black and mixed heritage children.
