Alliance Strategic Priorities

On 20th March 2024, the South East London Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) Strategic Alliance gathered in person to establish our strategic direction for the next two years. Together, we explored system priorities, identified high-impact opportunities, and discussed how to best support the health and well-being of our communities. We also focused on strengthening the Alliance itself, considering ways to grow our membership, improve our structure, and enhance our overall reach and impact.

Equitable leadership

Our mission is to enhance the VCSE sector's role and impact within the broader SEL healthcare system. We are working hard to ensure that VCSEs are equitable strategic leaders in our system, and advocate for system power-shifting and sharing with our sector.  We champion the equitable influence of grassroots, micro, and By and For VCSEs, and working to develop structures that will bring diversity and innovation into system-wide thinking and actions.
Charter Commitment:

Tackling inequalities

We're working to address health inequalities by focusing on the needs of diverse communities in our region. By identifying these communities of interest and understanding their unique challenges, we are better supported the development of grassroots models to address them. We will actually co-develop and lead efforts to build trust with under-served communities, ensuring their voices are integral to the health system. By focusing on the needs of the community, we aim to transform health and care services that do more than just improve access - they truly work for all of south east London.

Prioritising prevention

We are empowering the VCSE sector to influence and participate in funding plans and decisions. The SEL system is adopting a co-developed, equitable approach to contracting and monitoring. We are supporting the system in diversifying its funding sources and fostering funding collaborations. Additionally, the Alliance and sector are actively shaping the infrastructure and capacity-building fund for small and grassroots VCSEs, ensuring they receive the support they need to thrive.
Charter Commitment:

Fairer Funding

The VCSE sector need to influence and take a lead in funding planning and decisions. South East London's funding system uses co-developed, equitable  contracting and monitoring approach. The VCSE Strategic Alliance is supporting the system to diversify its funding sources and providing support to new collaborations.
