Unseen but essential: the vital role of micro and small VCSEs

NAVCA’s latest report, Unseen but Essential: What is the voluntary sector microbiome?, explores something we see every day in South East London—the vital role of small and micro VCSE organisations that quietly keep things moving in our communities.

These groups might not always be visible in the bigger system conversations, but they’re often the first to step up, the most trusted by local people, and the ones best placed to reach those who are underserved. The report calls for greater recognition and support for this “microbiome” of the sector.

It’s a useful read for anyone thinking about how to build a stronger, more connected VCSE ecosystem.
